Komatsu distributor McHale Plant Sales has recorded a growth in demand for eco-friendly excavators with the sale of two new Komatsu HB215LC hybrid excavators to one of Ireland’s leading civil engineering contractors, Priority Construction.

The first of the revolutionary new machines to be sold in Ireland are quieter, more economical and more CO2 friendly than anything the Japanese manufacturer has offered before.  Typical of the savings promised is an average 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption. This is matched to a corresponding reduction in CO2 emissions.

Diesel powered, the HB215LC-1 has an electric motor that captures the surplus energy generated during each swing operation. This extra energy is converted into power that is then stored and used to boost engine performance when extra acceleration is needed. An eco-gauge provides information to the operator that will help monitor fuel consumption and energy flow at any time.

A third new addition to Priority Construction’s Komatsu fleet is a PC360LC-10 excavator.  All three machines will be used at the Lisheen mine near Thurles where the company has been contracted to manage the tailings pond.
