News that the environment for heavy plant sales may be improving can be seen in some recent high-profile sales.
From Komatsu distributor McHale Plant Sales comes confirmation of sales to Kerry civil works contractors, Moriarty Civil Engineering of Tralee and to Mayo-based contractor, John Madden & Sons of Ballinrobe.
Purchases by Moriarty include two new Komatsu crawler excavators – 23-ton PC210 and a PC350 LC-8. Both machines are being assigned to a wind turbine project currently under construction at Roscrea.
In the case of John Madden & Sons, newcomers to Komatsu, the deal involves their first purchase of two new units - a PW 98MR-8 wheeled excavator and a PC30MR-3 Mini Excavator.

Other deals completed by McHale include sales to Wexford contractor John Hayes, Aughinish Alumina and Kilsaran Concrete.
To parallel this upturn, McHale Plant Sales has seized the opportunity to introduce a gold card scheme that it hopes will encourage customers to commit to regular machine servicing.
One card is issued for each machine with benefits including agreed fixed price servicing based on special labour rates, a ten percent discount on parts, satellite machine monitoring via Komatsu’s own Komtrax system and a six-month guarantee on all genuine Komatsu parts used.
