KOMATSU TO LAUNCH INTELLIGENT MACHINE CONTROL EXCAVATOR

Komatsu has unveiled plans for the launch of its PC210LCi -10 intelligent Machine Control (iMC) hydraulic excavator which is expected to be available to customers in Ireland later this year.

Following on from their introduction of two iMC dozers launched last year – the D61-23 and its smaller brother, the D37-23 and the recent unveiling of a D65Pxi-18 this year – these excavators will be the second machines from Komatsu to be fitted with the iMC system, designed to make construction easier, quicker and safer.

When the excavators make contact with the target surface, the boom, arm and bucket automatically stop movements of the bucket teeth along the target surface, allowing the operator to continue excavating without overcutting.

By eliminating some of the workload required for conventional construction, such as staking and surveying, Komatsu claims the iMC excavators improve production efficiency, while at the same time enhancing safety by reducing the number of surveyors required to work near the machines on conventional jobsites.

Welcoming the introduction of Komatsu’s iMC system to their excavator product line, their distributor for Ireland, Michael McHale, managing director of McHale Plant Sales said: “this further underlines Komatsu’s determination to  equip their machines with leading edge technology, delivering greater economy and higher levels of operational safety, sufficient to deliver increased profit and offset the higher purchase costs involved.”
